Grant Hsu is currently AV1 Architect in Visionular, and a leading core team member of Aurora1, Visionular’s AV1 Encoder which is evaluated as first place of MSU 2019 Video Codecs Comparison in HD Subjective and 4K categories. Grant was previously Vice President of Engineering at Cidana, a leader in advanced multimedia software solutions for the mobile and consumer electronics market, and Software Manager at InterVideo, Inc., where he managed the Embedded Department of InterVideo and also contributed multimedia compression efforts across all departments.

Grant has worked in the multimedia field for 20+ years and specialized in video compression technologies (such as AV1, H.264, MPEG2/4), and also a major contributor of libaom – the AV1 open source project lead by AOM. He has been granted 4 patents in the US. Grant received his B.S. in Computer and Information Science from Tunghai University and his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
